The recipe for beauty is to have less illusion and more Soul, to retreat from the belief of pain or pleasure in the body into the unchanging calm and glorious freedom of spiritual harmony. Those who look for beauty, find it.

I Never Said I Wanted a Perfect Candidate

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

As this year’s election cycle kicks into high gear, so too do the party hacks and unknowing pundits. I know that the English language has it’s quirks but it certainly is not that hard to understand for anyone that grew up speaking it.

Being someone that uses the English language regularly as a blogger and someone that writes weekly columns I say a lot of things. I don’t hide what I believe and never have. If I think something someone does is stupid, I’ll say so and do it bluntly. If someone says something that is wrong and flies in the face of the facts, you bet your bottom dollar that I’ll speak up about it. Thousands of words come out of my mouth every week and many of them get put down on paper (or virtual paper).

But sometimes I have to wonder if the English language is more complicated than I believe it is because it appears that so many people don’t seem to be able to understand it. I mean, I’m used to the idiots who write me each week complaining that I’m being disingenuous when I say that Al Gore claimed to “invent” the internet and who point out that he only said he helped to “create” it. That does not bother me much beyond the fact that there are still people out there too lazy to use a dictionary and see that these words are synonyms in as much as to invent means: “to produce (as something useful) for the first time” and to create means: “to make or bring into existence something new” (source: Merriam-Webster Dictionary). It just does not get any closer than that.

What bothers me the most is when people take what I say out of context to try and form an argument against what I discuss every week and day based on such. It bothers me because, like I said, English is pretty simple to understand if you grew up using it on a daily basis. For example, as of late I have been receiving a lot of ignorant emails from readers claiming, somehow, that I am demanding a “perfect candidate” if I am not going to support their “conservative” man (be it McCain, Paul, Baldwin or Barr) for President.

I use the term “ignorant” to refer to these folks probably far too generously. “Ignorant” people are people who are simply uniformed and not necessarily lacking intellect. But when I have never made such a statement or even implied that I required a candidate to be “perfect” in order for him or her to receive my support, it crosses my mind more than once when reading these emails that those penning them are worse than ignorant – they are down right stupid.

Last week on Doug Gibbs internet radio show, The Political Pistachio, I even admitted (I think publicly) for the first time that I was a Duncan Hunter man during the primaries. And Mr. Hunter is certainly far from “perfect”. But he would have gotten my vote in December and did get my vote during the primaries (even after he backed out) because I believed he could at least be reasoned with on issues we had disagreements over and was at least a reasonable man. I cannot say the same about some of these others that I am being asked to support.

A couple camps are really pounding me hard right now because they do not like the fact that I have spent a lot of time focusing on their candidates of choice and denouncing them as not worthy of the Presidency. The first group are those who supported Ron Paul during the primaries and still have dreams of a Paul coup at the convention. Another group contains those that support John McCain. Then there are the vast minority for Baldwin and Barr getting indignant that I will not throw my support their way.

Ron Paul and John McCain supporters have claimed time and again that, because I have at one point or another sworn never to vote for either for various reasons, I am demanding a “perfect candidate”. I put that term in quotes because it appears in the vast majority of emails I receive. The Baldwin and Barr supporters are outraged because I see their positions on Iraq and downright lies about the war as unworthy characteristics for a Commander in Chief and also bemoan that I must want a “perfect” candidate since I agree with so much else these two espouse. And to be perfectly honest, Bob Barr is probably the candidate I have come closest to supporting at times and probably would support if not for comments he has made about the war on terror and the Iraq War, which I apparently believe much more strongly in than he does.

But here are the facts – well actually the only fact. Fact: I have never demanded a candidate be “perfect” in order to receive my vote. Never. Not once.

I would never make such a claim because I have studied enough history to know that no elected official in the entire history of the United States has been perfect. Not Ronald Reagan, not Abraham Lincoln, not even James Madison, Thomas Jefferson or our very first president, George Washington.

What I have done however is time and again communicated how at the very least I require that a candidate demonstrate that they understand American idealism and that they are committed to upholding such idealism as described in our founding documents. There is plenty of room for disagreement and discussion on the issues and how to implement said idealism once that foundation has been set.

A candidate for President must be willing to stand up for our Constitution and limited federal government. He cannot craft legislation that say, oh destroys the first amendment. I expect a candidate for President to not resort to petty name calling and insinuation of racism because I, and millions of Americans, actually believe that people should be required to come to this country legally and that if they don’t then they should not be granted amnesty for their transgressions. A candidate for President must be willing to stand up for the concept that all men are created equal and endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights and that those rights are worth fighting for – even if said candidate already has theirs secured. I do not expect a candidate for President to tell bold faced lies such as calling the Iraq War “unconstitutional” when Congress clearly gave the authority for war. They may have poorly worded it, but they gave it.

We can always disagree on the finer points. But the overriding principles of libertarian and conservative thought must be upheld if you want my support. Sure, I realize that we have gotten into this mess over the course of a century and that it will likely take years to return to an America where government is limited to its constitutional roots. So I don’t expect with the wave of a pen that a President would undo all the wrongs we have visited upon ourselves. But do not lie to me and say that you do not request earmarks and unconstitutional spending when the paper trail clearly shows otherwise. Then when caught do not claim that since the money was going to be spent anyway, you were just serving your constituents or some other nonsense. Do not lie to me and come up with some convoluted reason as to why some people deserve liberty while others do not simply because they live a little further away from you than the next guy.

Sure, I would love the “perfect candidate”. But I am willing to settle for a man or woman, black or white or red or yellow or green with orange stripes, who has a firm grasp of what American idealism is. Because I know that a candidate like that can at least be reasoned with when the actions he or she takes raises red flags and causes all of us who still believe in the principles that built America to take a second look and question them boldly.

This year, there are a lot of politicians running for President. We do not need more politicians. We need a leader with a firm grasp of the concept of America. We do not need a person who will do a good job as Chief Executive while shirking his or her duty as Commander in Chief or visa versa. And when I find the person who will do both job competently I will vote for them.

Some of you may say that I am the problem. Some of you may say that if my words are just and true enough and persuade enough other Americans to also seek the same standards in our candidates that it will lead to a Barack Obama presidency.

To that I say that it is not I that am the problem. I say that it is you. For it is people like you that have given us candidates so far away from the American ideals in election after election, that we have no good choices left.

Yes, I understand that you fear what may happen if you do not vote for the lesser of two evils and that instead the greater evil comes to power. But it does not change the truth that you have still brought upon us evil. If that is the choice you chose to make, then you are the one that makes it and we are the ones that must live with the results.

And while it is true that a John McCain presidency will not be nearly as bad as one by Barack Obama, how can you trust your liberty to a man that has betrayed us all to the other side of the isle so many times? He has not just reached across the isle. He has jumped across eagerly, inviting them to the prom and then has been caught french kissing them under the bleachers afterwards many times. How do you trust this man not to continue the encroachment of our own liberties at home for the sake of his own political power?

Yes, by not voting for John McCain, I may certainly have to live under a Barack Obama tyranny. If that happens, I will certainly have to rely on my own faith in God and that Divine Providence will see us through just as it has so many times before in so many other perilous situations.

Zatik’s products never tested on animals. They are handmade without mass production, which are packaged and shipped to our customers upon request.  Our goal is to deliver high quality beneficial organic skin care products that would restore natural glow and appearance of the skin damaged from environmental impact.

I would like to make few clarifications when using terms organic or CO2 extracted ingredients and finally the reason organic component is preffered.

What is organic?

Organic plants are grown without any pesticides, artificial fertilizer or contamination.  All our products contain at least 95% wildly harvested and organically grown botanicals.

What is CO2 extraction?

Supercritical fluid CO2 extraction is an alternative to a chemical solvent for separating desired nutrients from the plants without hight temperature exposure, which kills skin care benficial terpenes.  Without chemical and high heat exposure plants will retain high content of nutrients, minerals and vitamins for a greater benefit.

 Why organic?

Simply avoid suspected carcinogens, neurotoxins and hormone disruptors, and synthetic fragrances that are frequently allergenic. Use products that are organic, fresh, and free form synthetic chemical.

The Perfect Gourmet Coffee

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

Can a gourmet coffee be too perfect? That’s the criticism leveled at the coffees from Costa Rica – too much flavor, too balanced, too clean, and too smooth. And Mission Grounds Gourmet coffee is considered by most as the finest Costa Rica gourmet coffee by the locals – so why would you not drink the best gourmet coffee– the gourmet coffee considered to be too perfect and blessed by all.

Part of the Pacific Ring of Fire Circle, Costa Rica has over 200 identifiable volcanic formations dating back over 65 million years. Today 100 or so show signs of volcanic activity and five are classified as active volcanoes. Most of the volcanoes in Costa Rica lie in the northern part of the country and in the Central Highlands; these are prime gourmet coffee growing regions.  The volcanoes are a key part of this country’s spectacular natural diversity. This is because they have played an important role in how the lush landscape of this region has come into being. Due to the many volcanic eruptions over the past millennia, the soil in Costa Rica is rich in many minerals and very fertile. This natural fertility contributes to the production of unique and exceptional coffee. Mission Grounds uses the finest shade grown top of the volcano coffee, the only pure number one select coffee. The number one grade is only grown in small quantities and we purchase all of it. So if you want the highest grade of Tarrazu gourmet coffee– you have to purchase Mission Grounds Gourmet Coffee. Buying any other gourmet coffee is settling for second best.

Our coffees stem from the jungles of Costa Rica. Costa Rican Coffees are known to be full-flavored, with lively acidity, and are very fragrant and tangy. Arabica is the only species of gourmet coffee that Mission Grounds Gourmet coffee sells. It is the sole source of fine gourmet coffee and comes from a more delicate, higher-altitude tree and grows at a lower temperature than the Robusta bean. The higher the altitude, the finer the gourmet coffee will be. Arabica coffees receive only 2 hours a day of direct sunlight. The Arabica bean is harder and has a denser aroma. It is the bean of choice for gourmet coffee connoisseurs. It is the reason Mission Grounds Gourmet Coffee is the finest Costa Rica gourmet coffee. The best Costa Rican gourmet coffee beans, which are grown above four thousand feet and hand selected, are designated as “strictly hard bean”.  However, because not all gourmet coffee beans which grow at the higher altitudes are “Strictly Hard Bean”, we sort the gourmet coffee beans for the hardest gourmet coffee beans and remove the softer -”Cataula” gourmet coffee beans. The softer gourmet coffee beans are called Cataula to designate them as a byproduct of this sorting. Most of the Costa Rica coffees contain these softer less flavor gourmet coffee beans – but not Mission Grounds Gourmet Coffee. Just another reason Mission Grounds is the finest gourmet coffee.

Single Origin Coffee: Estate or “varietal” coffees are unblended coffees grown on specific estates or farms in specific regions of Costa Rica.  With this designation the consumer is made aware of gourmet coffee varietal used, social practices and environmental practices (land conservation, recycling, natural fertilizers & no chemical sprays for example – (like our Signature Roast the Natural Organic coffee) employed in the production of their coffee. Our estate Signature Roast is considered by most the finest most flavorful organic gourmet coffee in the world. Costa Rican coffee has set the standards for fine wet-processed coffee for the rest of Central and South America and the world.  The most famous coffees by region are the Tarrazu – the best of the Costa Rica coffee. And Mission Grounds Gourmet Coffee is the best Tarrazu coffee – making it the best coffee in the world.

Skin Care For Men

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

The manufacturers of beauty care products have blatantly ignored men while persistently pursuing women. Decade ago beauty regime, cosmetics, etc were considered a female’s prerogative. So what’s new? There is a clear blurring of gender lines in today’s world. Eyebrow plucking, facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, hair removal and hair colours, which were regaled to women only, now find a mention in men’s list for beauty.

Men have shown interest in taking better care of their skin. Simple daily ritual of cleansing and moisturizing is the key to healthy beautiful skin. Men’s skin care products include moisturizing creams, cleansers, face and body wash, scrubs, exfoliant and night renewal cream with a variety of natural ingredients for example sea salt, coconut, Aloe Vera and even beer.

Men’s skin is 20% thicker than woman’s skin because it’s richer in collagen and elastin. The active sebaceous glands make the skin much oilier. No matter what is your skin type, you have to clean your face daily. Deep cleansing keeps the pores clear, skin healthy and good looking. Just like women’s skin, men’s skin is also prone to dehydration, sun damage, changes in the environment like air pollution, climate etc. Basic cleansing, protection and moisturizing after shaving is an effective skin care routine.

- Daily face washing will unclog the pores and help in prevention of variety of skin conditions such pimples, acne, ingrown hair, etc.

- Daily shaving of their face makes the skin prone to dehydration. Use shaving creams or foams designed for specific skin type.

- If your skin is prone to imperfections such nicks, pimples, etc after shaving; soothe the skin with moisturizer or after-shave lotion.

- Sunscreens are not only for women. Men’s skin should also be protected against the sun. Buy sunscreen or moisturizers with SPF of 15 or above.

- Steam your face before shaving. It opens up hair follicles. Splash cold water on your face after shaving to close the pores on the skin. Aloe Vera is a wonderful post shave moisturizer.

- The use of the correct oils for oily and acne prone skins can be very helpful. Essential oils like lavender, sage, mint and tea tree are naturally antiseptic, active and help heal the skin.

- Eat a balanced diet and stay active. Up your intake of fruits and vegetables and avoid greasy fried foods. Exercising clears your pores and increases your metabolism and sweating cleanses your inner body.

- Drink plenty of water daily to keep your skin hydrated. If consume liqueur, beverages or soft drinks, increase your water intake to keep your self from being dehydrated.

Skin care for men is akin to women’s skin care regime. Clean your skin every day and moisturize your skin for healthy beautiful looking skin.

The Perfect Match

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

One scene of Woody Allen’s Annie Hall I enjoy most is when crazy Woody, upset and confused about his troubled relationship with Annie (Diane Keaton), stops a couple in the street and asks them how they keep a relationship working. The guy basically answers: “Well, she’s superficial and so am I, I have no ideas about anything and it’s the same for her and we don’t ask ourselves questions because we both know we’re too stupid fo find answers.” The girl nods her head in sign of approval and they walk away hand in hand.

Looking at the whole spectrum of boys & girls business, we may think that the perfect match is the complete opposite of true love, leaving all the shakespearian romantic crap behind and focusing on more solid ground : socio-economic profile, sexual affinities, intellectual symmetries and complementary outdoor activities (like he loves gardening and she likes to read and take a sunbath).
But we may also consider that the perfect match is the modern version of true love. A mere change in designation covering a same reality. And which reality is that? Well, not an easy one to describe, that’s for sure…

How many times have we heard people say “She’s the woman of my life” or “I’ll never find someone like him” with the same intensity as the alchemist who’s just found how to turn stone into gold? But in many cases, the morning truth swiftly changes itself into afternoon doubts and evening pleas of reassessment: “Is she really the one?”, “Does he fit to my life?”, “Will he ever get along with my friends from the gym?”
The doctrine of true love teaches here to send it all to hell, and to comply by one’s feelings, no matter the consequences. But in a world of statistics and self-fulfilling prediction, where happiness has been theorized down to the bare bone, consequences do matter. That’s where the perfect match doctrine takes over.

Love is still part of the process, but no longer operates as the almighty engine flying the plane through the clouds. It can be there at the take-off – or not, if one can find a substitute. It can be whipped up in air pockets by jealousy and sexual needs. It can be switched off at will when jobs and mortgages repayments require full attention.

The story of humanity shows than men kept trying domesticating the wild to replace it by flower beds. Love is a wild animal, and it needs to be tamed. It has the power to make our lives run out of control, and we don’t want that to happen. It has the power to make us question ourselves and the choices we made, and that’s too hard to take.

The perfect match doctrine is here to comfort you, by enslaving love to happiness instead of the other way round. It’s a useful tool for everyone, especially for those who feel like crying on saturday night watching the English Patient on TV and still want to get up on monday morning with a smile on their face and with plans in their head.

Skin Care – Beauty is More than Skin Deep

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

We have all heard the saying beauty is skin deep, well as far as skin care goes this is not true. Skin care starts from within & depends upon your diet, digestion, hormone levels, stress levels & your nutritional health. For total skin care you need to build quality skin from the inside out.

Your skin is your biggest organ, it is to you what the shell is to a turtle. It is your own personal house, your protective layer between you & the outside world. It is up to you to keep your house in order, you need to have a daily routine to take care of your skin which in turn will take care of you. You should never underestimate the importance of skin care, it is your first defence against disease & infection and it protects your internal organs from injuries.

Skin care is not just for women, it is for men & young adults as well. It is an important part of personal care more important than just for good looks, it is a sign for all to see how healthy we are.

We all need to maintain the beautiful skin we were born with, your daily regime should begin with a proper cleansing by washing your face with water & a mild cleanser to remove dead skin cells off the skins top layer. Next some gentle exercise to increase your blood circulation to get more oxygen to your skin. You should protect your skin from the sun, particularly at risk is the area around the eyes so wear good quality sun glasses to stop you from squinting which can cause lines & wrinkling. You need to hydrate & moisturize regularly & make sure you drink plenty of water especially after exercising.

We would all like to think that we are looking after our skin by eating a healthy diet & exercising regularly. We know that eating organic foods & fresh fruit & vegetables can help us prevent toxins entering our body but did you know that harmful chemicals & toxins can enter our bodies in other ways ? Your makeup, moisturizer, eye creams etc may contain harmful chemicals that are absorbed through your skin. There is approximately six pounds of skin on your body which is a porous membrane through which toxins & chemicals can be absorbed. Dust, dirt & pollutants can enter our bodies through our skin, do you really want to add to these chemicals & toxins by using skin products that contain harmful ingredients ? Why not use all natural skin care products ?

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) found that 884 chemicals used in personal care products & cosmetics are known to be toxic. The chemicals & toxins found in most commercial skin care products also have an adverse effect on the environment. In a US geological survey scientists showed that a variety of chemicals from personal care products were among 95 wastewater pollutants found in US waterways.

The FDA (Food & Drug Administration) in the US classifies cosmetics into categories but does not regulate them, cosmetic manufacturers may use any ingredient in their products and market them without any government approval. Whilst several toxins are banned many others including carcinogens are allowed in cosmetic production. Many commercial cosmetics have regularly been found to contain toxic chemicals.
Many skin care products will claim to contain natural ingredients and/or expensive vitamins & oils, but how can you be sure the product you are using does not contain harmful ingredients ? Read the label ? Well yes but can you honestly say you understand what all the ingredients on the label are ? many of them are probably unpronounceable chemicals which you have never heard of.

This is where you should beware, a general rule of thumb is that if you have never heard of any of the ingredients then the product is not made from natural materials. Look out for ingredients such as cranberries, grapeseed extract, olive oil, green tea and many more. If you are unsure of any of the ingredients do some research, look up the ingredient on a web search & find out exactly what it is & whether it could be harmful to you or your skin. You would not dream of eating any food containing harmful ingredients or toxins so why let these toxins enter your body through your skin care product ?

The Perfect Car

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

The perfect car is an electrical vehicle that can replenish its own energy while in motion (non-stop), has zero gas emissions, seats 5 people, has no fuel cost, and would cost between 20,000 to 40,000 USD depending on its features. Such a car, should be less complicated to built than our current combustion engine cars that have more than 7,000 parts. Most of the technology for the perfect car has already been built and tested as of 2008. But, the difficult part will be to overcome the special interest groups protecting their current status quo, and creating all types of obstacles for manufacturing this perfect automobile. This article proposes the creation of small wind turbines to generate the power when the car is in motion, to replenish its battery supply.

Automobile companies and the US government seem to believe that the hybrid automobile, gasoline/electric, that yields up to 150 miles p/gallon, is the next logical step to reduce our carbon dependency and green house gases. This hybrid automobile has both components: the gas combustion engine plus the electrical and battery gear. It may reduce gas emissions and the use of fossil fuels, but it does not eliminate carbon dioxide altogether.

The Toyota Prius is an example of a current hybrid, that has been in operation since 1997. It is adequately priced, seats 5 passengers, but only delivers 48 miles p/gallon. On the contrary, the new Tesla Roadster is a 100% electrical vehicle that can reach 60 mph in 3.9 seconds, has a top speed of 125 mph and a range of 244 miles on its electrical charge. However, the Tesla Roadster only seats 2 people and is priced for a niche market at 109,000 USD. This price established by the company, is about 6 times the cost of what its manufacturing cost should be. One of the reason that the manufacturer established this high price is probably because they only produced 150 vehicles in 2008 and plan to built 1,200 in 2009. The manufacturing cost for an electrical vehicle should not be more than 10,000 to 20,000 US dollars if it was massively being produced. However, with Tesla’s insufficent projected production, and their 2 seater car offering apt for a small fraction ot the total market, they do not seem to be a serious automobile supplier. .

The ideal automobile for families should have the Tesla electrical technology, plus the Prius regenerative brake technology, plus a new wind power turbine technology placed on the car, to replenish batteries while the car is in motion. The power generation from one or several small wind turbines on the car, should produce the same amount of electricity as the vehicle uses, making the car go indefinably, non-stop. This would be a dramatic improvement on Tesla current per charge range of 244 miles. This would also eliminate the argument from its defractors that the electrical car is only good for playing golfing and not for street everyday use.

The Tesla and Prius technologies are already available, and with time they can be improved and perfected. However, the existing wind turbines technology uses very long blades to capture open field winds. Instead, the new wind turbines for automobiles need to be small, compact and discrete, to be placed in the front part of the car, and equipped to capture high speed winds. It is logical these wind turbines would be more efficient than their open field counterparts, since the car in motion is already producing a displacement wind moving at the speed of the car. The wind would be funneled through to turn the electrical power generator that creates the electricity. With several small and discrete wind turbines, sufficient energy should be generated to replenish the electricity that is being used.

The combustion engine has been in effect for little more than a century, and people are accustomed to it. However, the combustion engine is a non-sustainable component in our lives that needs to be replaced, because it consumes non-renewable resources and generates gases. New turbines that run on wind, solar, heat exchange need to be designed to replace these combustion motors, and battery driven tools need to make deeper strides to eliminate the gas piston portable tools.

Car manufacturing companies like GMC, Ford and Chrysler, as well as government should reconsider their development thrust. They should evaluate going directly into electrical cars, without the Hybrid step, because America replaces its entire car population every 10 years, if all manufactures are producing the elecrical vehicle. People can get accustomed to good things immediately. We, the people, also need this electrical technology to evolve into trucks, to reduce transportation cost from all products we currently use and consume, making man’s life more economical and enjoyable. Desert Landscaping – How To Plan The Perfect Design

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

Planning a desert landscaping requires a little more time and thought because of the arid conditions. You would need to plan on plants and trees that do not need a lot of water and can grow in sandy soil. It would be pointless to grow plants here that would not survive for long and would just wilt and die. So make sure that when you jot down the list of plants and trees which you will need for your desert landscaping, that they will be the ones that can withstand this climate. If you are unsure about the plants that are acclimatized to dessert conditions then you could read about them or get information from your local plant nursery. Another good way to find out about what will grow in the dessert is to look up on the internet where you are bound to get a lot of information.

It would be worth your while to put in some money to have better irrigation and simplify the landscaping procedure. However if you do not want this extra expense you could opt for only dessert plants that do not need much water.

As the hot sun and the poor quality soil are two very hard factors on plants it is always better to buy only dessert plants which will survive in this climate. There is no point in wasting money on any other kind of plant in this sort of a climate.

Some dessert landscaping plants:

Longwood Blue bluebeard: A deciduous shrub, this will grow back every year during spring time. The plant is one that will grow back into a beautiful healthy plant every time and is quite perfect for dessert landscaping. This is not one of those stumpy shrubs but grows to a height of 3 to 4 feet and has a width of about 2 feet. This is a very picturesque plant with blue flowers that grow in clusters and silver foliage with a pleasant fragrance.

Autumn Joy: A perennial plant with leaves that have whorls, it is a perfect choice for dessert landscaping. The leaves have several different colors and will go with any other kind of plants for dessert landscaping. This dessert plant has beautiful flowers which also grow in clusters with different colors and shades. The most common colors for these flowers are pink, red, orange and yellow. Butterflies are always flitting around these trees and add to the color of your garden.

Is Your Skin Care As Pure As It Can Be?

Posted by Admin | Filed under Uncategorized

To achieve a more radiant skin and beautiful complexion, it is vital to use only the purest skin care products, particularly those made only with raw, living and natural ingredients. In this article, I explain why this is the best external skin care possible, which, together with a healthy diet, right lifestyle and a positive mental attitude, helps the skin to become softer, firmer and achieve an unmistakable glow.

From the outset I’d like to emphasize that becoming more beautiful is available to anyone now, regardless of their present health, condition or age, who is willing to create beauty through changes in the diet, external skin care and mental outlook.

What we put on our skin is just as important as the food we eat. The skin is the body’s largest organ and plays a crucial role, not only in the elimination of toxins and in regulating our internal temperature, but also in terms of absorption.

Therefore it is critical to use skin and personal care products that, first of all, are free from toxic chemical ingredients. Some of these ingredients include:

a) Propylene glycol: Found in practically every skin moisturiser, propylene glycol is used as the base ingredient in the manufacture of brake fluid and industrial anti-freeze. It greatly damages and ages the skin. It also causes rashes and dry skin.

b) Lauryl sulphates: These corrosive chemical ingredients used in industry to manufacture garage floor cleaner and engine de-greasing are also one of the main ingredients in practically every major brand of shampoo, bubble bath, face wash, shaving gel & toothpaste. Lauryl sulphates eat away at the mucous lining of the skin, are highly irritant to the eyes and cause urinary tract infections.

c) Parabens: synthetic chemicals which have been linked with breast cancer. They are used as preservatives in many shampoos and personal care products.

Secondly, it is important to use skin care products that are made only with raw, living and natural ingredients such as raw cacao (cocoa) butter and cold-pressed oils. This is because the skin greatly nourishes from the life force, antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids present in the natural ingredients.

The benefits are numerous. The life energy in the ingredients is highly nourishing and healing. Antioxidants for example, help to reverse skin ageing and inflammation and help heal scar tissue. Minerals play a key role in beautifying the skin, hair & nails. Sulphur, for instance, is a central component of collagen & connective tissue, which provides elasticity & flexibility to the tissues. Vitamins such as A, C and E are moisturizing, soothing and healing to the skin. Essential fatty acids help to remove toxins from tissues.

To ensure that the life force and all these nutrients are retained, skin care products must be made at temperatures below 40C. If ingredients are heated above this level during the manufacturing process, most of the antioxidants, minerals, vitamins and the life force in the ingredients are destroyed. A good example of this is cold-pressed olive oil, which has long been considered a topical remedy for wrinkles and facial lines. Not surprisingly, olive oil is the best source of raw vitamin E. However, it is also is extremely sensitive to temperature and light and becomes completely corrupted when heated.

Heated oils and fats when used in skin care products -even in the so-called most natural ones- are actually one of the worst offenders to skin beauty. They contain highly toxic transfatty acids, which may be absorbed into the cell membranes, causing them to become porous and weak. Heating oils and fats also leads to the creation of free radicals, which are unstable oxygen molecules that have lost an electron. Collagen, a protein molecule that constitutes 80% of the dermis, is particularly susceptible to free radical damage, which includes wrinkles, lingering scars and stiff collagen

In contrast, cold-pressed fats and oils kept at low temperatures help to beautify the skin, strengthen the cell membranes and restore nutrients to the tissues.

In short, the best external skin care is to use products made using only 100% raw and living ingredients. At present, the only company in the world producing a range of such products is Raw Gaia. More information can be found at http://www.rawgaia.com/
